Applications:

1) Electro-optic Q-Switching:
For the electro-optic effect in Lithium Niobate is higher,its Pockels Cell could be used in Nd:YAG、Ti:Sapphire、Nd∶YLF:YAlO、Er∶YLF and etc. lasers. And Lithium Niobate Q-Switch could be applied in Target Indication,Distance Measure and Eyes Diagnostics.

2) The optical low-pass filter in Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera:
The Birefringence of Lithium Niobate is 10 times higher than Quartz. It means the low-pass filter could be made thinner.

3) Polarization Wedge in Optical Isolator

 

4) M-Z Optical Modulator, Y Waveguaide, Fiber Optic GyroFOG:
a. We can get the highest electro-optic co-efficient d33 by waveguide design on X-cut Lithium Niobate wafer.
b. Under certain operating voltage, Push-Pull Structure Mach-Zehnder Modulator could easily get photoelectric signal velocity matching, thus Z-cut Lithium Niobate Modulator have higher modulation speed.

5) Quasi-phase matching Multiplier ,Optical Parametric Osillator, Laser Display - RGB Laser,Terahertz
It is possible to get nonlinear electro-optic co-efficient d33 to satisfy quasi-phase matching from X-cut Lithium Niobate periodic polarized structure.

7) High Operating Temperature Piezoelectric Sensor
Lithium Niobate’s Curie Temperature up to 1140℃, therefore it is a good choice for pressure and acceleration sensor working in high temperature. For suitable Lithium Niobate Crystal and cut type, the highest piezoelectric co-efficient d33 could reach to 39.6pc/n.
