        OELABS’s polarization maintaining fibre (PMF) is specially designed for fibre optic gyroscopes (FOGs) and polarization sensitive components applications. The fibre incorporates perfect “dual-circular” stress areas (SAs). This fibre exhibits extremely low attenuation and excellent birefringence for high performance in a variety of demanding applications.

          OELABS’s PMF is manufactured using the high precision Plasma Chemical Vapor Deposition (PCVD) process. This process produces preforms with precise refractive index profiles, material uniformity and dimensional tolerances, resulting in fibres with excellent birefringence, low attenuation and extremely tight tolerances.

OELABS’s PMF incorporates two identical stress areas to create differential stresses across the fibre core. Light travels along each axis at different velocities due to stress-induced birefringence. Crosstalk between the two axes (fast and slow) is highly suppressed by the uniformity of the fibre materials and geometry. Therefore, polarized light launched into either of the axes remains polarized as it guided.

           With dual-layer, UV-cured Acrylate coating, OELABS’s polarization maintaining fibre provides excellent attenuation and crosstalk stability over the entire temperature range of -50 ℃to +85 ℃ (-58°to +185°F).
